Green Homes Grant Scheme Update

Here at Valecraft we are planning on becoming an authorised company to carry out these works

The first vouchers for the scheme will be issued at the end of September and the scheme will run for six months until the end of March 2021. All companies accredited to install these energy efficient measures will appear on for homeowners to choose a company to carry out the work.

In addition, the government has released details of how homeowners can qualify for the grants and how the glazing industry can help them improve their energy efficiency.

Works covered under the scheme

The government has split the scheme into primary and secondary measures.

Households will need to install at least one of the following primary measures below to qualify for funding:

  • Insulation: Solid wall, cavity wall, under-floor, loft, flat roof, room in roof, park home.
  • Low carbon heat: Air source heat pump, ground source heat pump, solar thermal

Provided one of the above primary measures is included in the package of works, homeowners can additionally apply for funding towards secondary measures but the level of funding will not exceed that granted for the primary measures.

Secondary measures are:

  • Draught proofing
  • Windows and doors: Double/triple glazing (where replacing single glazing), secondary glazing (in addition to single glazing), upgrading to energy efficient doors (where replacing doors installed prior to 2002)
  • Heating controls and insulation: appliance thermostats, hot water tank thermostats, hot water tank insulation, smart heating controls, zone controls, delayed start thermostat, thermostatic radiator valves

Windows and doors: eligible works

Glazing is seen as a secondary measure and therefore as a FENSA Approved Installer you need to ask your customers the following question:

  1. Are you having one of the Primary Measures listed above installed in your home?

If the answer is YES to the above, then follow up with these two questions:

  1. Are you looking to replace single glazed windows with double or triple glazing?
  2. Are you looking to upgrade your doors to energy efficient doors?

If the answer is NO to the above then unfortunately your customers will not be able to take advantage of the scheme.

If the answer is YES, your customer may be able to apply for assistance through the scheme for those works.

Please do contact us if you have any questions.
